HyDrOG3N ICS or just Hydrogen ICS is a great ICS 4.0.4 ROM for the Galaxy S II I9100 and it can be installed easily on an rooted Galaxy S II with specific firmwares. To install Hydrogen ICS you just need to use Odin a couple of times to install the necessary firmware such as XXLPS or higher, in case you haven't and then just flash the Custom ROM in Recovery Mode. The ICS ROM can be installed on Android 4.0.3 running Galaxy S II.

Next you need to install and root XXLPS Firmware. Follow the steps below if you do not have it installed.

The process of updating and then rooting are very similar so very giving a general idea on how to update the firmware with Odin.

  • First thing you need to do is ensure that your device has Connect to Samsung Kies in USB Mode activated. To do so go to Settings then Wireless & Networks then USB Settings then Enable Kies.
  • Next download ODIN from here.
  • Next download the file for the update.
  • Next switch of your device and reboot it into Download Mode. To do so press and Hold the Power Volume Down and Home Buttons.
  • Now run ODIN and plug in your Device. If your device is properly detected then a section of ODIN should turn Yellow.
  • Now click on PDA and select the .tar file you downloaded in Step 3.
  • Now just click Start and wait for the process to finish.
The files that you need to use the update are below.
Next you need to just flash Hydrogen ICS ROM. For this you will need to:
  1. Download Hydrogen ICS ROM from here
  2. Next you need to Enable USB Debugging from Settings then Applications then Development.
  3. Next you need to copy the downloaded ROM onto your SD Card and then Boot into Recovery Mode.
  4. To boot into Recovery Mode press and hold Power Home and Volume Up Buttons.
  5. Now just select Install zip from SD Card and then select the file you copied in step 3.
  6. Now just wait for the process to finish and that's it.

Now you have successfully installed Hydrogen ICS on the Samsung Galaxy S II I9100. If you have any doubts feel free to comment.
