Meizu is not very popular in many parts of the world but it is in places like China. The Meizu M9 and Meizu MX were released originally without ICS and on Gingerbread but the Beta (V1037) Android 4.0 ROM has been officially released and here is quick tutorial on how you can install it. What is sad is that the Meizu MX and M9 have some great hardware and yet it is not popular in many parts of the world. Below is the Official Release Statement:

MEIZU has today released a public beta testing version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the MEIZU MX and M9. The newly released firmware will be based on stock Android 4.0 without any customizations.
The Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade brings an entirely new look and feel to Android on MEIZU MX and M9, with a redesigned user interface as well as new design and usage concepts.
Prior to the public beta testing, MEIZU launched a private beta testing program for Android 4.0, which began mid-February for the MEIZU M9. During the private beta, users were amazed at the speed and responsiveness of the testing firmware. The newly released public beta firmware brings many bug fixes and also the support for MEIZU’s flagship device, the MX.
With the release of the public beta testing stock Android firmware, the company continues supporting the MEIZU M9, a device that has been on the market for more than a year. By doing so, MEIZU once again displays its focused commitment to the user experience and satisfaction of its many customers and fans.
The ICS beta firmware is available as of today for the MEIZU MX and M9.

Also another thing about these 2 Meizu devices is that the updates are also much easier.
  1. First thing you need to do is just back up any data that you have on the device because you need to clear all your data otherwise there may be forced closing errors.
  2. Next just download the file that you need for the update from the 2 links.
    Update for Meizu MX.
    Update for Meizu M9.
  3. Now just copy these file to SD Card then Unplug and Switch Off the phone.
  4. Next you need to Install the Updates by just Holding the Power and Volume Button to start the updating and then follow the onscreen prompts. Well that's it.
The installation is much more easier than most Android OS updates. If you encounter any forced closes it means you haven't removed or wiped all data before the process. If you encounter any problems with the procedure feel free to comment.
