Root Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 on XXLPS Android 4.0.3

The XXLPS Update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 has recently been released. Rooting the XXLPS Android 4.0.3 Firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 is easy and just a couple of steps. This method does require an unrooted Android 4.0.3 installed GT I9100 on the XXLPS update to work. Do not try the tutorial if your phone is not the same variant and running the required version of Android. Without further delay let us begin with the rooting process.

  1. First thing you need to do is ensure that your device has Connect to Samsung Kies in USB Mode activated. To do so go to Settings then Wireless & Networks then USB Settings then Enable Kies.
  2. Next download ODIN from here.
  3. Next download this file for the update.
  4. Next switch of your device and reboot it into Download Mode. To do so press and Hold the Power Volume Down and Home Buttons.
  5. Now run ODIN and plug in your Device. If your device is properly detected then a section of ODIN should turn Yellow.
  6. Now click on PDA and select the .tar file you downloaded in Step 3.
  7. Now just click Start and wait for the process to finish.
That's it. Now you have successfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 on XXLPS Android 4.0.3 Firmware. If you have any doubts feel free to comment.

There is no USB setting for Kies in Wireless & Networks. This part is wrong in my SG2 ICS menus: "To do so go to Settings then Wireless & Networks then USB Settings then Enable Kies." Would you please clarify/correct this.
